The Pure Gold Edge tipsheet is best utilized with the value betting strategies found elsewhere on our site. The tipsheet itself, in addition to our computer selections in their order of strength potential, can be utilized to augment your own handicapping process and also to obtain limited track program information such as saddle cloth (betting) numbers, jockey, trainer, etc.
Our top 3 computer generated selections are extremely strong and consistent, especially when utilized as recommended in the “WiseGuy” value betting strategy. When a horse in the tip 3 is a late scratch, simply move your selection process and consideration down to the 4th horse.
The single most important handicapping facet of the tipsheet is probably it’s exclusive and proprietary “PureGoldEdge Power Number.” This number is a computer-generated consensus of the horses past performances and its major strength is its very unbiased assessment of a horse’s performance potential against the particular horses in the race today. Ratings that are relatively close together will usually produce close finishes while a bigger rating difference will usually indicate horses of greater potential.
Another great feature can be found under the column marked” Pace.” This column will quickly identify the horses usual running style and where it is likely to be placed in the critical early portion of the race. A * on the left side of the running style description will indicate the horse(s) that will be on or close to the lead early while the * on the right side of the descriptions will flag the best closer in the group. The descriptions point out the early speed horses, those that can “stalk” or be patient enough to sit just behind the early speed until they fire early in the stretch and the closers which prefer to make on big run late in the race and come from way back in the home stretch. Anytime you find only one * on the left side of the descriptions, you should consider the “Lone Speed” scenario… The horse could go to the lead and never look back… most longshots come from this group!
And, of course, the “Gold Alerts” will immediately point out both big advantages and some disadvantages within the race. A summary follows:
The remainder of the sheet is pretty self explanatory and includes the official program betting numbers of each horse and the official morning line.
The jockey and trainer statistics are for win% and in the money % ( ITM ) and are for the last 365 days and not for just this current meet.
Lasix use is indicated by (L) under the Rx column and first time use is (L1)….second time use is (L2)
BO under the Eq column indicates the horse is putting on blinkers for this race, a trainers attempt to minimize distractions. BX will indicate the horse is taking off blinkers for this race for better and more comfortable vision.
The “OFF” column is days since last race.
All the information on this tipsheet is meant to give you an ‘EDGE’ while you enjoy a day at the races. We hope you score big… but most importantly, HAVE FUN!
